WELCOME

Greetings from the wild autumn moors!
Actually, today is beautifully mild and we have just returned from another
glorious walk across the golden burnt sienna, raw umber and sage green coloured
moors - the colours at the moment are breath taking and the smells just as
rich. It's so special to walk free along ancient unending pathways with sheep,
ponies, and cows, stopping every now and then to breathe in this beautiful
land. Each time we return with a renewed feeling of deep gratitude and joy
in our hearts.
Music and Art
We are both now focusing our energies this winter on our music and have finally
decided to make our own albums, so I have moved the piano into my studio and
Richard is writing new songs and enjoying his new Gibson guitar. He is also
working on some very interesting projects in the recording studio with other
musicians who are getting the creative urge this autumn.
This year has been a truly abundant one for us, with lots of wonderful folk
coming to stay and sharing with us here.
We have spent much of our time focused on the Peace movement that has been
sweeping across the world in these tumultuous times. We were involved in the
setting up of the Chagford peace group and the organisation of a big art exhibition
and concert for aid in Iraq. Over 80 artists donated their work for the exhibition,
which lasted two weeks and raised over £5000 for UNICEF and The Red
Cross.
The New Vegetable Garden
We also decided this year to grow our own vegetables. I have had a wonderful
experience growing seeds, planting and harvesting a plentiful supply of lettuces,
lots of herbs and an assortment of delicious organically grown veggies. Mixed
in with it all was an abundance of flowers - I can't help myself - the veggie
garden has to be a place of beauty. It's been quite magical and nurturing
to make the contact with the earth.
We are hoping to extend further into the lawn to grow more vegetables for
our visitors
A new bio fuel for our car
We are now running our car on biofuel (modified waste vegetable oil) and it
seems to actually go better! If you want to know more please call or email.
Wild Food and Home Baked Bread
We have also been learning more about eating from the wild and have been incorporating some of the abundance of wild food that grows in our hedgerows and in nature into our menus and also cooking a variety of different breads and buns with all sorts of tasty organic ingredients.
More New Buildings
We have also expanded here as some of you know and have built another wooden
cabin, which has been a great success. It is slightly larger and a bit roomier
than the first. It is situated next to the pond and waterfall, which creates
a peaceful and relaxing sound.
Richard has also built a wood- burning sauna, with a purpose built stove from
Finland. It has been fabulous and has been enjoyed by many over the summer
months. We are now enjoying its warmth and deep relaxation as it gets colder.
We have a lovely new caravan, which is a delight after our old leaky one!
Playful Painting and Handmade paper
I have spent a lot of time this year doing one to one with people in the
art studio - helping people connect with the playful part of themselves and
working to release the judgmental mind through the mediums of liquid water
colour and collage. It has been very rewarding and freeing for many that have
worked with me. I have found this way of working with liquid watercolour on
wet paper liberating. I have also been enjoying teaching papermaking with
flowers and plants from the garden and hedgerows.
So, as you can see, it has been a truly rich year for us with a lot of expansion.
We are now looking forward to a more inward, creative winter and we hope that
we may be able to share this with some of you. If you feel like a creative
break, with music and or art, or just want a quiet rest with lots of pampering,
unwinding and rejuvenation we would really welcome you.
With our love and Blessings,
Kristin and Richard
